Hatton-Hutton
If you have a desire to know history you have to really search for it. So much is written yet so much is lost, forgotten, or lies in old documents waiting for someone to bring it to light. I'm going to attempt to shed some light on history forgotten.
Who were the Hattons and Huttons? These two families are among many whose history is not fully understood.
Who was Carew Raleigh and what were the relationships between the families of Elizabeth 1st. Court?
Did you know most were related? Now that we have the ability to search for cousins using DNA, or genetics, I suspect we will uncover much more. Why did Carew Raleigh and John Hatton sail together ? What was the true relationship between Sir Christopher Hatton 1540-1591 and Sir Francis Drake? Who were the other Sir Christopher Hattons? Was Sir James Hutton of Scotland related?
Did Sir Christopher Hatton 1540-1591 have children? What was the relationship between the Hatton, Hutton and Rich family? DNA shows a link between these families.

Sir Christopher Hatton 1540-1591 was the first in the Court of Elizabeth 1 to invest in Sir Francis Drake. Drake then renamed his ship the "Pelican" to the "Golden Hinde" [ Hatton's Crest and on a gold chain he wore]. The e on Hind has been dropped over the years. A fun spot to visit is on the coast of Florida called the Treasure Ship.

The likely connection between some Hattons and Huttons can be found in Ratho, Scotland. Ratho is near Edinburgh. Hatton Castle is in Aberdeen and still stands.
However, an old Hatton Castle built in the 1400s is in Ratho. Here we have a connection as Sir James Hutton, family ancestry unknown, was also from this area. Interestingly the web site is maintained by Keith Hatton. There is also a small village named Hatton of Fintray. The writer, Frank Hatton, was also from this area. Fintry and Fintray are two different places.

For your information the father of George Lauder was Sir William Hatton killed at the Battle of Flodden. I think many of these Hattons and Huttons are connected in this area of Scotland. The family is very ancient and there isn't much known..likely this could very well be the family of the Hattons of Cheshire. Some recent data .
